Waterfront Property in Mid-Michigan

by on Mar.11, 2011, under Market

Making your Move

Enjoy the tranquility of living on the water. With reduced sale prices in our current market and historically low mortgage interest rates, it is a great time to consider waterfront property for your year around home. The Lansing area offers many outstanding waterfront options including riverfront homes on the Grand River, Red Cedar River, and Looking Glass River, along with lakefront options including Lake Lansing and neighborhood lakes such as those found in Whitehills Lakes and Hiawatha Lakes subdivisions.

Why take the time to drive north and have the expenses of a 2nd home when you can have the peace and enjoyment of living on the water at home throughout the year. There are numerous benefits of having your primary home as also your retreat.

On the Grand River

One of the currently available waterfront homes includes this beautiful brick home in a gated community on the Grand River (top photo is view from home). This home has a stunning family room with windows on three sides, views of the water from almost every room, along with custom features throughout including radiant floor heat, all brick exterior, and so much more. This home is in a convenient location with easy highway access. This home is a year around delight and priced at only $649,900. Be sure to check out the virtual tour for more information on this lovely home.

Whitehills Lakes Estates

Another outstanding home is this stately brick two story in the exclusive Whitehills Lakes Estates subdivision located on a prime waterfront lot. Spacious rooms, most with outstanding views of the lake are just some of the highlights of the almost 7000 square feet of elegant living space. The home also features multi level decks to enjoy the lake, a full walkout lower level, 4 fireplaces, along with fine details and craftsmanship throughout. Priced at only $695,000, this home is an outstanding example of the quality and gracious living available in the Lansing area. Winter in Mid-Michigan

by on Feb.22, 2011, under Mid Michigan events and activities

Just my usual annual reminder that there are so many wonderful outdoor activities in the Mid-Michigan area year around. With our recent snowfall, the cross country skiing has been wonderful at Lake Lansing Park North. Miles of groomed trails, easy access with the plowed out parking lots along with available rental gear on the weekends make it a great place to enjoy some winter sunshine. Other local options for cross country skiing include the Meridian Parks along the Red Cedar River (Legg, Harris Nature Center, Eastgate), Roselake Wildlife Research Area (open to hunting), Burchfield Park (also offers rentals).

For some of us old timers, we remember skiing on wood cross country skis that required regular attention of pine tarring the bottoms to keep the moisture out so wax would stay on, along with the never ending obsession of selecting the perfect wax for conditions. With efficient no-wax skis, along with the convenient local trails, it makes it easy to get outside for a bit without a lot of fuss or large time commitment.

The conditions this week have made the skiing great so be sure to get out and enjoy the Mid-Michigan outdoors.

Why rent when you can own for less?

by on Jan.26, 2011, under Just Listed, Market

I have recently listed an East Lansing condo near MSU that is in beautiful condition for only $61,500. It is a newer, top floor, apartment style condo with one bedroom and a full bath. All the kitchen appliances are included, has a private covered balcony and space for washer/dryer. It also includes a carport so you don’t need to scrape snow and ice in the winter. It is in move-in condition.

So, at that price, it would make a lot of financial sense as an investment for a parent with a son or daughter going to MSU for several years. Instead of throwing money down the drain on rent, it could be going towards ownership. It could then be resold down the road in a hopefully stronger market or possibly turned into a rental investment property (please check with City of East Lansing for rental information).

For anyone looking for a great location, hassle free living, and the benefits of owning over renting, this a great opportunity. With a low initial investment and moderate association dues this condo has so much to offer.

With our current market, this condo and other fabulous bargains like this are available. Whether you are thinking about a primary residence, student housing options, in the Lansing area or elsewhere, please give me a call anytime to discuss.

ArtPrize 2010, Grand Rapids

by on Oct.03, 2010, under Mid Michigan events and activities

ArtPrize 2010 in Grand Rapids is now in it’s second year. What an event! There are 1713 artists at 192 venues throughout the downtown area along with Meijer Gardens competing for cash prizes, the top prize being $250,000. The voting is by the public so there is enormous community support. Barb and I were able to see many of the pieces on Friday night and had a great time wandering the downtown. It was a warm fall evening with tons of people checking out the art and enjoying the music in the streets. ArtPrize is running through October 10th this year so be sure to check it out. More details at http://www.artprize.org/.

FYI, I’m still working through the thumbnail photos below getting cropped to a square image so please click into them to see the full image.
